ADRA (Intern'l Relief)

Split Pea Soup

Ingredients:

Cooking Spray

1 (16 oz.) pkg. dried green split peas, rinsed

1/2 pkg. barley

1 meaty hambone, 2 ham hocks, or 2 cups diced ham

8 cups hot water

2 chicken bouillon cubes, crushed

1 (4 oz.) cream cheese

Directions:

  1. Lightly spray slow cooker with cooking.
  2. Put all ingredients except cream cheese in slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on HIGH 4 to 5 hours or on low 8 to 10 hours until peas are very soft and ham falls off bone.
  4. Mash peas to thicken more, if desired. Add more water if soup becomes too thick.
  5. Add cream cheese in soup just before serving.

Enjoy,

Anjali Dawson
